3) Go to cultural events.

Learn about the people whose language you are studying. There are all sorts of opportunities in your back yard for learning a foreign language without paying a dime. Many communities with Hispanic populations have their own newsletters with events happening every week. Oftentimes churches are an excellent source for events specifically for Spanish speakers. These events will often showcase a particular aspect of Hispanic life. If you live near a college or university, then your free opportunities to pick up some Spanish or various aspects of Hispanic culture will increase tenfold. Additionally, libraries are an excellent place to inquire about community activities, or at least to check out a book on language or culture.
